Ones to Watch: mocks.ie
What is it?
mocks.ie is an online exam-preparation website whereby students can monitor their progress and improve their results through continuous practice. mocks.ie achieves this by offering a range of services, including an exam-correction and feedback service corrected by state examiners, an oral-examination service and online aural and multiple choice questions.
All services are offered from the comfort
of the student's home and with affordable prices starting from €2. It has no time or location constraints, so
students can study wherever and whenever suits. mocks.ie is easy to use, and
mirrors the actual Leaving and Junior Cert exams.
Who's behind it?
Siblings Eoghain and Ailish Ryan are the founders of the business and have partnered with David Collins, the ex-Galway hurling captain, and engineer Liam Frawley. All four are engineers from Galway; however, they have liaised closely with teachers in schools throughout the site development.
Financial situation?
Still in its early days, the mocks.ie team are currently focusing on marketing the products, and are optimistic about the future, as business is growing steadily. mocks.ie hope that in the coming year, they will be in a position to create full-time employment for a number of people other than shareholders. mocks.ie are providing supplementary employment for almost 60 teachers and hope to increase this number dramatically as the site grows.
Future plans?
mocks.ie hopes to scale up their service this year and plans to go overseas and offer the same services in the UK, and Australian markets. Along with constantly improving services on the site, mocks.ie will be launching an iphone application in upcoming months which will enable students to do aurals and multiple-choice questions on their iphones.
