Apple's strive for secrecy is the stuff of legend. They're so secretive they refuse to comment on commenting on rumour. There is said to be a dedicated internal team that focuses purely on information leaks; one that identifies the source and 'neutralises' (read: fires) it.

Since the iPhone launched in Ireland in March 2008 it has been officially tied to one carrier only - O2. Customers who wanted an iPhone had to upgrade to specific contracts, which were 18 months long, and in some cases switch carrier altogether.
