Incentive scheme aims to create 5000 jobs

The Government has released details of a scheme which will provide a finders fee of €1,500 per job to people who bring employment to Ireland.

The 'Succeed in Ireland' initiative aims to create 5,000 jobs over the next five years by providing a financial incentive to people to use their international contacts to attract foreign companies who are expanding internationally.

The scheme will be managed by IDA Ireland and will target small and medium sized companies who would not be large enough to be reached by the State enterprise agencies. Under the plan if an individual arranges an introduction between the IDA and a foregin company expanding internationally and that company decides to locate in Ireland, the idividual will recieve €1,500 for each job created.

The details of the Succeed in Ireland plan was launched by the Taoiseach, Táinaiste and Minister for Jobs yesterday. Taoiseach Enda Kenny said that offers a new channel to spread of word of Ireland's strong reputation as a place to do business.

"All of us have contacts," according to businessman Terry Clune, who founded the Taxback.com service has been made Chairman of the Connect Ireland initiative. "e it business contacts, friends or extended family and we are asking people to use these contacts in order to make connections with companies overseas that are expanding internationally."
