Simponi approval
Simponi (golimumab), developed by Johnson & Johnson and Schering-plough, has received FDA approval as the first once monthly, injectable, anti-TNF for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis.
These chronic diseases affects roughly 3 million people in the US alone.
Simponi is an update to the $5bn a year blockbuster drug Remincade, and will compete with Amgen's Enbrel and Abbott Laboratories' Humira.
