Life: Parreno at IMMA
Known for his hypnotically appealing film Zidane, A 21st Century Portrait, made in collaboration with Scottish artist Douglas Gordon, the Algerian-French artist Philippe Parreno is showing an overview of his work at the Irish Museum for Modern Art (IMMA).
The exhibition features 15 mixed-media
works with seminal films such as The Boy from Mars to installations such as
Speech Bubbles. Parreno is also transforming some of the gallery spaces with
helium balloons and plexiglass glowing orange at the windows.
As part of the Irish Film Institute programme, his new film 8 June 1968 will be screened for the first time in Ireland, as well as the real-time portrait of soccer star Zinédine Zidane, filmed for 90 minutes during a match between Real Madrid and Villareal. It's more fascinating than it sounds. www.imma.ie.
